It was not the children that were stolen, but their soul
Jane Harrisons novel Stolen shows how childrens souls are stolen and the tragic effects of it. The main five characters, representing Stolen Generations which refers to the children being taken out from their Aboriginal family, had different life experiences. It is their experiences reflect their stolen souls, including loss of culture, misunderstanding of personal identity and destroyed delirious and spiritual world. There is no doubt that being taken away from family and parents leading to a ruff of their culture. Understanding of a specific culture is gained by immersion in it.Without growing up with and skill the culture, people cant find connection between themselves and where they should be dour to. Showed in Stolen, sandlike, the oldest child when was taken, had a better knowledge to the Aboriginal culture. The story of Mungee and the fact that women put sand in themselves to stop raping indicates Sandys understanding. However, the other four characters always wondering w here am I belonged to, they got lost because they had no base about the environment and background of where they should be grown up with.Being stolen from their parents results in the lack of be due to stolen history. It is the childrens personal identities that being stolen as a result of taken away from parents. Without hunch and care from family but a burden of hard work. The children in home centre were unprotected and tired. Ruby, an employ and abandoned girl, ended up in a mental hospital murmuring I got a lot to do and I need no home. She couldnt recognize her parents and babe any more, even didnt know who she was and where she came from. On the other hand, Anne seems to live happier.Being adopted by a friendly white couple, Anne enjoyed a better material treatment than others. Although she knew that we chose you, she tried to tanned herself, visual perception herself as a white girl. You mother is an Aboriginal, Anne was confused about who she was and where she belonge d to. Struggling between the twain families the white one or the aboriginal one, Anne still het brook. Being stolen as a younker little girl, Anne not only lost the chance to stay with her family, but also experienced a lack of self-understanding. Undoubtedly, the childrens emotional and spiritual world was ruined because of the stolen. They suffered a lot, like working as a slave, unspoken abuse, and concealment of truth. Jimmy, who almost forget his name was Willy, cried for his mother everyday when he was in the children centre. You mother is not coming for you. Shes dead. , told the despicable woman who took great care of the children. Sandy was then heart broken and eventually committed suicide after knowing the death of his beloved mother. Furthermore, Shirley suffered twenty-seven-year long separation. I hold her in my arm once, and not have a second chance for all over twenty years. Never give up looking for her children, Shirley was the most lucky one. She now have a m other and a grandmother, thats all that matter. When the nurse asked Shirley to give the baby, Shirley cried and felt herself awkward, thats all due to the terrible experience she had, and the whole Stolen Generations as well. From all discussed above, we can see that Jane Harrison shows how childrens souls were stolen in numerous layers, including the lack in their own culture and personal identity, as well as the badly hurt emotion and spirit.

Hong Kongââ¬â¢s Environmental Problems and Solutions
lmovementHong Kongs environmental jobs and solutions Hong Kong is one of the top monetary centers in the world. Thus, the environmental quality of Hong Kong is very important. It is because the environmental quality is indirectly linking to the image of Hong Kong. Moreover, the living monetary standard of Hong Kong residents is also under influencing of the environmental quality. However, Hong Kong is now surviving serious environmental line of works. Poor air quality, preventative problem and heavy traffic loads argon the three important problems of Hong Kong. The members of Hong Kong should try their best to turn out(a) these problems. Problem of air quality in Hong Kong is serious so we submit to try our best to light up it. Three are two main reasons that causing the serious air contamination problem in Hong Kong. One of them is the increasing number of vehicles. An some other is the huge amount of pollutants from industrial labor. First of all, vehicle is a signifi t ail endt source of air pollution in Hong Kong. Commercial vehicles like buses and trucks unceasingly emit a huge amount of pollutants. These pollutants contain large amounts of particulates that worsen the air quality. Secondly, the pollutants from industrial production are liberal a helping hand in causing the air pollution problem. During the process of industrial production, dynamism conversion is always taken place. However, energy conversion operation will give out a certain amount of pollutant. For example, nitric oxide is formed when industrial combustion takes place. Air pollution has deep govern on human as well as the natural environment. For the human, the main influence is the health effect.American honorary society of Family Physicians (2010) explained that people who affected by air pollution will suffer from elusivey in breathing, cough out and even worsen their respiratory disease. In more serious case, the effect of air pollution whitethorn induce the permanent disease. For the natural environment, air pollution will intensify the problem of global warming. As there are a lot of particles emitted to the air, the heat released from the land will trap by these particles. Thus, the reality will become more and more hot. Once the global temperature is increase, more energy is generated in baseball club to reduce the temperature. However, more particles are emitted through the generate process. Thus, it will become a cycle. As we spot the seriousness of the air pollution, we should take actions to comport with the problem. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government gives high antecedency to controlling both street-level air pollution and smog. (Environmental Protection part, 2011) To reduce the pollutants emitted from vehicles, the Environmental Protection Department (2011) pointed out that the government has adopted a tighter fuel and vehicle emission standards and strengthens vehicle emission inspections against smoky vehicl es.These measures can effectively control the pollutants emission from vehicles. One the other, the waste gas giving out from industrial production should also be regulated. The government can install system on power generation coiffure and develop green energy power to reduce the emission of suspended particles. As a result, pollutants from industrial production can be largely reduced. We should take immediate actions to solve the serious racquet problem in Hong Kong. As Hong Kongs economy has grown inrecent decades, so too has the echo that comes from transport, construction, commercialised and industrial sources in this compact, densely populated city. (GovHK, 2011) There are two main sources of noise pollution in Hong Kong. They are noise from transportation and industry. Transportation is the main source of noise pollution. Because of their mobile nature, the areas under their influence can be extended. Vehicles produce the about extensive noise effect compare to trains a nd aircrafts. It is because it is difficult to control the noise produced from vehicles. The source is thus difficult to chase as they are mobile. Heavy trucks, high speed cars and frequent stop and start of cars always produce higher level of noise. On the other hand, industry is another important source of noise. In construction industry, high level of noise is always produced from the use of equipments. There are piling, compressor and bulldozers that produce high level of noise. Moreover, noise will also produced in manufacturing industry. During the operation of machines, noise is generated. Noise has more impacts than we expected. It will affect our health, daily life and environmental quality. The most immediate and acute health effect of excessive noise is impairment of hearing. (Singh. N, 2004) Prolonged exposure to noise can damage our ear cells. This may caused temporary or even permanent hearing way out. Also, noise can violate our cardiovascular system. It will make u s hard to focus and concentrate as well as causing headaches. For the effect on our daily life, peoples working faculty will be affected. Under noisy environment, teaching and learning will become less effective. Teachers and students need to pay more effort on concentrating on their work.To tackle the noise problem, the Environmental Protection Department (2011) purposed to reduce traffic noise through careful land use grooming. Better track planning will divert the noisy road from the residential areas and thus reduce the disturbance to the residents. Lastly, there is an urged to deal with to problem of traffic congestion. The problem of traffic congestion in Hong Kong is caused by the lack using of prevalent transport (Lo I, 2004). Hong Kong is such a small place but there are a fewer million vehicles on the roads. We can see that there are a lot of private vehicles tally on the road everyday. The increasing of private vehicles increases the demand of the usage of the roads. As more and more vehicles are riding on the roads at the same time, the road system will then cannot afford. trading congestion occurs. Another cause of traffic congestion is less well-planned road system in Hong Kong. In Central, traffic congestion is common. It is because of the poor road system. Many vehicles will pot to Central at the rush hour, but the poor road system cannot help to divert the vehicles flow rate. So many vehicles are concentrated in Central and caused traffic congestion. What are the impacts of traffic congestion? Firstly, Lo I. (2004) claimed that people are needful to pay heavy time cost for traffic congestion. The wasting of time may lead to the loss of business, late for work and school. So traffic congestion can also cause the economics loss. In addition, the image of Hong Kong will also be affect. Hong Kong is an international financial center that gives the world an image of efficient. However, traffic congestion will make the damages of this image. People will wonder why Hong Kong, such a well-developed city, is having the problem of traffic congestion. So, measures should be taking to relieve this problem. The government should have a better road planning in order to release the heavy traffic burden in Central. Education cannot be avoided in order to educate the citizen to use more public transport. To conclude, poor air quality, noise problem and traffic congestion are the three issues that the government needs to deal with. These problems are not nevertheless affected the peoples standard of living but also the image of Hong Kong. It is no dubiousness that the Hong Kong people should focus on these problems and solve them together.

It & Entrepreneurship Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
It & Entrepreneurship - Essay ExampleIt also provides the facility of connecting to people set anywhere in the globe with minimum cost (Bertucci & Alberti, n.d.). However, it has been viewed that with the increase competition and globalisation, large business houses argon implementing strategies that not only aid them in making a business process more good but also enable them to decrease various operational cost by a substantial extent. In this regard, intranet is considered to be one of the most common forms of computing device net toy that is observed to be utilize in many arrangings to make the entire working process more efficient. It is a form of computer network that implements Internet Protocol (IP) technology to spread data, operating systems or computing systems at bottom an organisation. In general, Intranet is a process through which all the computers within a defined argona are connected using networking technologies in order to facilitate a smooth flow of comm unication amid individuals or separate of individuals within an organisation (SlideShare Inc., 2011). Modest Proposal-Satire - Essay casingAnd even under Obama, the US is still involved in a deadly conflict in Afghanistan, in which many unripened men and women are dying on a fairly uniform basis. Of course, in these situations, it was non just the US presidents who were sending their forces into war Ho Chi Minh, Saddam Hussein, and Osama stash away Laden have also been there on the other side, sending their own forces (although fewer young women are among them) to die in the name of a politicized, extremist religion. The solution which I propose to the permeating problem of war between nations is simple and effective, and it is amazing that no one has thought of it before.
